Case study · Healthcare and retail

From choosing frames to booking an eye exam, all in one place.

Ferreira Optical runs seven branches across Trinidad, with registered optometrists, opticians and hundreds of frames. Most people visit the website for one of two reasons, to find frames they like or to book an eye exam. We redesigned the site so both are easy, and so people understand their eyes a little better along the way.

The brief

Glasses are a medical device and a fashion choice.

Nobody buys glasses on looks alone, and nobody books an eye exam for fun. The site had to show hundreds of frames like a fashion store, while giving people the confidence to trust Ferreira with their eyesight. Then it had to get them from the website to a real appointment at the right branch.

What we built
  1. Book a Visit everywhere

One button in the header leads to online booking and branch hours

  2. Frames you can filter

Hundreds of frames by brand, price, size, colour, material and gender

  3. A branch near you

Seven branches on a live map, with today's hours and directions

  4. Advice before you buy

Face shape guides, lens explainers and what happens in an eye exam

UX

The appointment is always one click away.

An optical store does its most important work in the exam room. So Book a Visit sits in the header of every page, in the brand's pink, and leads to online booking, phone and WhatsApp numbers and the hours for every branch. The store locator puts all seven branches on a map, sorted by the nearest, and shows whether each one is open right now.

eCommerce catalogue

Browse frames the way you would in the store.

When people shop for glasses, they think in brands, shapes and budgets. The catalogue lets them filter by all of those, plus frame size, colour and material, so a few clicks narrow hundreds of frames to a shortlist worth trying on. A row of designer brands on the homepage shows the range at a glance.

Content

Advice that builds trust before the visit.

Choosing glasses is easier when you know what suits you. A face shape guide shows which frames work for heart, square, round and oval faces, and what to avoid. Other pages explain lenses, what happens during an eye exam and how to care for contact lenses. The team page lists every optometrist and optician with their qualifications.

Product launches

A page for every new lens.

When Ferreira launched its ScreenEase and FocusPlus digital lenses, we designed a page that explains who they're for in plain language, with the starting price up front. It has its own place in the main menu, between Eyeglasses and Sunglasses.
